Shiv Says Hi

I'm a product manager who reasons from first principles. I work in Private Wealth at FundsIndia, in Chennai, and before that at Ketto and HSBC. On the side I run a t-shirt brand called Roll & Wear, play board games, and train.

I'm based in Chennai and open to roles in Bangalore, on-site or hybrid, and to remote roles in India.

AI in my product work

A churn model for redemptions. At FundsIndia I owned the redemption journey. Retention outreach only started after someone asked to redeem. The better question was which customers were likely to churn, and when.

The model was my idea, and I owned it. I built it with LLMs and Python, iterating to a final version. It uses 98 parameters, mostly behavioural data from onboarding onward, including investment frequency, top-ups, redemptions, last login and SIP status. It is 83% accurate, which helps RMs a lot. Paired with behavioural nudges, the model cut premature exits by 18%.

What it changed. Customers started seeing the loan against mutual funds option. They engaged with it more and understood it isn't a scam or a high-cost product. The flow showed who the loan suited, and told others clearly that it didn't. When a customer showed interest, their RM got an alert to start the conversation. It made our loan offering stronger.

Across the redemption work, long-term retention value rose 12% and loan exploration rose from about 6% to 9.5%.

Prototyping with AI. I prototype ideas, designs and models with AI tools. It replaced much of the early design and tech effort, and helped leadership and our tech team see the nuances, so decisions were better informed.

It’s really salty! (opens in a new tab)

A childhood habit of sneaking raw salt became the way I think about presence, patience and decisions you can't undo. This is about being the grain that brings out what's already there.

Presence matters more than perfection.

Long-term retention value rose 12% once the tax showed before the click

I redesigned the redemption journey so clients saw the tax, the exit load and a loan option before they confirmed. Long-term retention value rose 12%, and loan exploration at redemption went from about 6% to 9.5%.

Most people leaving don't need to sell.

The snore… (opens in a new tab)

A viral thread about a husband's snores on Spotify made me think about the sounds of the people we love, and how quickly we lose them.

Because sound is slippery. It doesn’t stay.

Roll & Wear

Roll & Wear is a T-shirt brand I co-founded with a friend, and it's heavily inspired by board games. Each tee is tied to a specific game. My co-founder is the design brain and I'm the marketing brain.

We started in July 2024, so it's been about two years now. The Indian board game scene is really picking up, and we've been part of it: we've had stalls at several major board game meetups. We sell board gaming merchandise, people buy it, and we're still going.

Next, I want to use AI to test whether AI-made marketing commercials work for a brand like ours.

Movement

I make sure every day has at least one movement activity, and it brings me a lot of joy. For me that means pole, a lot of Pilates, and trekking whenever I can.

Board games

I absolutely adore playing board games, and I have a regular board game group I play with. My favourites are Oros and Ark Nova.
